STROLLERS:  Please leave all strollers in the vehicle upon arrival.  There is no area for stroller use or parking on the ARGO site.

FOOD AND SNACKS

Please plan ahead!  There are lots of great restaurants in the area – also a SAFEWAY grocery store just a block away.  No food or snacks are allowed in any of our buildings or on the tour and can only be eaten outside.

Footwear and Clothing

Crocs, sandals, flip flops or open-toed shoes of any kind are NOT ALLOWED in the Mill or Mine.  PLEASE ARRIVE WITH STURDY, CLOSE FITTING SHOES such as tennis shoes or similar.  If you do not have the proper footwear you can pay to pan for gold or gems in the panning yard but we cannot take you through the full tour.

Weather and Temperature

SUMMER

Our weather up here can be fickle year ’round!  Please be aware that because of the time of year, specifically July & August, temperatures soar and it is very dry.  These are precursors for altitude sickness which can strike VERY QUICKLY.  Typical hydration may not be enough in a situation where you are touring midday.  We suggest liquids containing electrolytes, specifically SMARTWATER, GATORADE, etc.  Not only do many of our visitors experience personal and physical changes with differences in altitude and humidity levels, they often arrive here from “down the hill” (Denver & South) and are chilled.  The ARGO Mill can be windy and cool so please bring jackets, you might need them even during summer.

FALL AND WINTER

IF YOU ARE HEADED THIS WAY AND YOU HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT STORM WEATHER AND WHETHER OR NOT WE ARE OPEN – PLEASE CALL BETWEEN DECEMBER AND MAY.   SNOW AND/OR ARCTIC TEMPERATURES CAN PREVENT US FROM OPERATING.
Dress warmly!  The outdoor temps can plummet on windy days.  The tour is predominantly outdoors so jacket, gloves and hat are highly recommended!

Other Suggestions

Because of the way stairs and handrails are oriented in the Mill, also, because of the limited space in the Tunnel, BACKPACKS ARE NOT ALLOWED IN EITHER AREA on the tour.  If you are a photographer, we suggest a neck strap for your camera/s so you are not wearing extra gear.
